Services

What I take off your plate

Monthly bookkeeping and close

Bank feeds reviewed, accounts reconciled, books closed, and a financial statement package you can read without an accounting degree.

A/P, A/R, and payroll support

Bill entry and payment runs, invoicing and collections follow-up, and payroll entries that agree with what left your bank account.

Cleanup projects

Behind on categorizing or reconciling? Cleanup is quoted as a fixed fee against a written scope, with a clear boundary, and kept separate from the monthly work.

Overflow for tax professionals

Capacity for the clients whose books arrive messy in Q1. See the section for CPAs and tax preparers below.

Who I work with

Owner-run small businesses

Women-owned and queer-owned businesses are especially welcome here. I work with owners who want someone steady and careful with the numbers, and who would rather spend their time running the business than chasing receipts. The best fit looks like this:

  • Up to about $3M in annual revenue
  • An owner-run business: sole proprietor, LLC, S-Corp, or partnership
  • Already on QuickBooks Online or Xero
  • Two to four bank and card accounts, one location
  • Three to fifteen employees, with recurring revenue

Some owners have income from several platforms, 1099-K and 1099-NEC payments that need to agree with the books, and S-Corp owner pay that needs clean records behind it. I set the books up so those records are easy for your tax preparer to use:

  • Multi-platform income reconciled to deposits
  • 1099-K and 1099-NEC income traced to the ledger
  • Owner pay and accountable plan reimbursements documented
  • Year-to-date numbers ready when quarterly estimates are due
For CPAs and tax preparers

Hand off the messy files. Get clean books back.

I do the monthly close for your clients so their books are clean when they reach you at year-end.

I do not prepare returns. I take on the bookkeeping that sits upstream of them: cleanups for clients who arrive with unreconciled accounts, Q1 overflow when your team is at capacity, and ongoing monthly close for clients who need a steady hand. Your client stays your client.

  • I never contact your client about tax matters. You stay their advisor.
  • I work inside the client's existing QuickBooks Online or Xero file, with access you control.
  • You get a monthly note on anything unusual, so nothing surprises you in tax season.
  • I do not prepare returns, so I am never competing for the client.
How it works

From first call to first close

  1. A free 20-minute books review

You show me where the books stand and I tell you the top three things I would fix first. No pitch, no obligation. If we are a fit, you get a written scope and a fixed monthly fee.

  2. Cleanup, if needed

If prior months are open, I scope a fixed-fee cleanup in writing first, so there are no surprises and monthly work starts from clean books. Most cleanups take a few weeks, depending on how many months are open.

  3. Monthly close

Every month I reconcile, review, and close, then send your statements with notes on anything that needs your attention.

From a client
Amanda helped me with my small business bookkeeping and was a tremendous source of support. Having run her own yoga studio, she was able to help classify my expenses easily. Even when I wasn't organized, she took the time to help me get caught up and back on track. She is still a valuable resource for me when I have accounting questions!

About

Amanda Quintanilla

I have spent more than ten years in accounting, and the last six as the accounting manager for a $20M manufacturer, where I run accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll for a team of 45 to 60 people.

Before that I handled bookkeeping, reconciliation, and financial statements for small businesses and educational institutions. I started Inspired Bookkeeper to bring the same discipline to owners who do not have a finance department.

I have also taught yoga for years, so I know what it is like to run a small business while doing the work yourself. I am studying for the IRS Enrolled Agent exams.
